Dorothy Lee Heidbrink Dessieux “Dot” passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Potosi Manor having reached the age of ninety years, ten months and eighteen days. She was born on February 13, 1933, in Freedom, Missouri, a daughter to the late Georgia L. (Mason) Heidbrink and Ervin J. Heidbrink. On August 30, 1952, Dot was united in marriage to Paul Russell Dessieux and they shared 64 years together.
Dot is survived by her three children; son: Mark Dessieux of Pacific, Missouri; two daughters: Paula Henderson and husband Jeff of Cypress, Texas and Deanna Politte and husband Greg of Chesterfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Josh Henderson, Ashley Schroeder and husband Steven, Jake Henderson and wife Jasmine, Devin Dessieux and wife Rachel, Dane Dessieux, Cole Politte, Carson Politte, and Peyton Politte; eight great-grandchildren: Jace Henderson, Jaxon Henderson, Tristen Schroeder, Riley Schroeder, Noah Schroeder, Jon Paul Henderson, James Henderson, and Jet Henderson.
In addition to her parents, Dot is preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul Russell Dessieux on May 2, 2016 and her dear brother Howard Heidbrink and niece Beverly Stewart.
Dot was a kindhearted, generous, and loving person who dedicated her life to her family and friends. She took great pride in her home, baking, tending to her flower garden, and decorating for holidays. She loved cross stitching and making special quilts for her children and grandchildren. Her kind heart and generosity were evident through her involvement in the Methodist Church Ladies Auxiliary, the Retired Teachers’ Association, the Sayer’s Senior Center Meals on Wheels program, and serving on the Board of the Washington County Health Department. She demonstrated strong Christian values and was actively involved in the Potosi United Methodist Church. She held various positions at Potosi Elementary School over the years and enjoyed working with children. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife who always put her family first. Her greatest pleasure was time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were her proudest accomplishments in life. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed for her kind heart, dedication, and unwavering affection for her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at DeClue Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 1:00 pm at DeClue Memorial Chapel.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens. All funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
