Dorothy Adeline (Henry) Barnes of Pilot Knob, Missouri departed this life on August 12, 2011 at the Des Peres Hospital having reached the age of eighty six years, seven months and one day. She was born on January 11, 1925 at Roselle, Missouri a daughter to the late Rolla Henry and Hattie (Phillips) Henry.
Dorothy Barnes was more than an aunt. She was a beloved, trusted friend. She was a keeper of secrets, a sassy, sophisticated farm girl. Although she may have lived in the big windy city suburbs of Chicago for over thirty years, she never lost her love of the outdoors, the country, animals and the simple things of life.
Dorothy was faithful to her friends, her relatives and her church. She believed in living a Christian life, but a life filled with fun. She would be the first to get something going, to play a harmless trick, to have that little smirk to lighten up her face. She was good at playing the innocent, but her eyes and smile would give her away.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Pete” Barnes; two brothers Archie Henry, Reuben Henry; three sisters Audrey Mayes, Eunice Osthof, Queen Ruth; brothers in law and sisters in law.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
A Funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church of Ironton with Rev. Keith Huffman officiating.
Interment and final prayers were held at Sebastian Cemetery, Roselle, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri
