Donald Yates

Rev. Donald L. Yates of Potosi, Missouri passed away on March 7, 2016 at his residence having reached the age of eighty four years. He was born on March 7, 1932, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, a son to the late Rev. John Oscar and Mary Essie (Peeples) Yates. On October 2, 2004, Donald was united in marriage to Sharon (Yount) Yates.

Donald is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon Yates of Potosi; son: Scott Yates and partner Thomas Simmons of Farmington; four daughters: Anita Godek of Ironton, Sandie Grosz and husband Randy of Arizona, Verna Williford and husband Rick of Potosi, and Sherry Walter and husband Rev. Ron of Davisville; sister: Betty Hollifield of Tennessee; sister-in-law: Kathy Akers and husband Elmer of Potosi; brother-in-law: Roger Yount and wife Marilyn of Potosi; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and also many nieces, nephews, friends, and other extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his first wife: Verna Yates; son: Donald L. Yates, Jr., son-in-law: Greg Godek; six brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation for Donald will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 10, 2016, beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. A funeral service for Donald will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, in the DeClue Memorial Chapel.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the St. Francois Memorial Park. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
