Donald Lee Pashia of Richwoods, Missouri departed this life on July 19, 2008 at his residence, having reached the age of seventy-five years, nine months and twenty-seven days. He was born at St. Louis, Missouri on September 22, 1932, a son of the late Lewis Martin Pashia and Mary Elizabeth Beyatte Pashia.
On October 27, 1951, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Horton at Hopewell, Missouri. There were three children born to that union. Betty preceded him in death on October 2, 2003.
On May 27, 2006, he was married to Mary Barnhouse Moore at Richwoods, Missouri. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Pashia; three brothers, Lonnie, Raymond and Albert Pashia; four sisters, Alene Farris, Omie Clemmons, Edna Ray, and Virginia Pashia.
Don was a caring and giving man. In his younger years he was an avid deer hunter, but later in life he enjoyed just feeding the deer and turkey and watching them eat from his back porch. Don enjoyed going to Aceway Auction with his wife and sisters. He enjoyed spoiling his sisters. Don was deeply in love with his God and truly loved his Church family. He also loved helping others, and showed that by opening and operating Potosi Food Pantry for ten years, then opening another pantry in Richwoods and serving people there for the last two years. He was loved by everyone that knew him and by most he was referred to simply and lovingly as "Grandpa".
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Mary Pashia of Richwoods; two daughters, Jamie Nelson and husband, Norman of Potosi, Mary Montgomery and friend, Jim Skiles of Potosi; four step-daughters, Mary Moore of Morse Mill, Jackie King of Richwoods, Donna Arnold and husband Pat of Richwoods, Carolyn McCrary and husband Bill of Sullivan; brother, Lawrence Pashia and wife Faye of Potosi; three sisters, Geraldine Farris of Potosi, Lorene Boyster and husband Bob of Potosi, Rachel Stutters and husband Carl of Festus; five grandchildren, Christine Cash, John Kilcullen, Denise Lucas, Eric Nelson, Stacey Nelson; ten step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Destony Kilcullen, Philip Lucas, Cierra Cash, Alyssa Nelson, Rilee Nelson, Quinlan Kilcullen; two step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at Britton Chapel on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 10 AM, with Rev. Dave Godat officiating. Serving as pallbearers were John Kilcullen, Eric Nelson, Tom Cash, Buddy Sansoucie, Aaron Saunders and Billy McCrary.
Interment and final prayers were held at New Diggins Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
