Donald Lee Lewis of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on March 2, 2014 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of eighty two years, eight months and two days. He was born on June 30, 1931 in Elvins, Missouri a son to the late Ivan Lewis and Helen (Fisher) Lewis.
On February 7, 1981, Donald was united in marriage to Janet Jenkins and they shared thirty three years together.
Donald served thirty one years in the United States National Guard, ten years as captain of Belgrade Fire Department, thirty three years on the Belgrade Fire Department and also as a first responder.
Donald was a member of the Hazelcreek First Church of God. He loved traveling, taking pictures of wild flowers, he was an avid reader and also an organ donor.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Janet Lewis of Belgrade; one daughter Donna Joyce and husband Tom of Terre Du Lac; one son Scott Lewis and wife Heather of Bismarck; one step son Joe Goforth of Columbia; one sister Maureen Lewis of St. Charles; dear friend Ron Barttlebort of Blackwell; twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 1 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Akers officiating and Sister Virginia Nettles assisting.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Akers Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri with full military honors and Local VFW Post 6996. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
