Donald Cowin

Donald Ray Cowin, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri was born on December 9, 1952 in Ironton, Missouri a son to the late Raymond Cowin and the late Mary Ann (Bourisaw) Cowin Rice. On October 9, 1972 Donald was united in marriage to Vicky Cartee and they shared forty-seven years together.

Donald went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of sixty-five.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Vicky Cowin; three children: Kimberly (Michael) Eldridge, Donald Cowin Jr. and Stephanie Cornett, Michelle Kahler and James Boyer; seven grandchildren: Sean Michael Cowin, Abbigayle Eldridge, Kaylah Eldridge, Brittney Clark, Alexis Kahler, Madeline Eldridge, and Rachel O’Connell; two great grandchildren: Brantley and Alayna Clark; two sisters: Nancy (John L.) Boyer; Connie (John) Carrigan; mother-in-law, Melba Dischbein; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Sonya and Archie Camden, David and Amy Cartee, Billy and Lindsey Dischbein; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Cowin; mother, Mary Ann Cowin Rice; step father, Charles Rice; sister, Charlotte Love; brother, Kenny Cowin; nephew, John L. Boyer Jr.; fathers-in-law: Gene Cartee and William Dischbein.

Donald served in the United States Army from June 27, 1972 to August 31, 1993. He proudly served a total of twenty-one years. During his time of service, Donald received the following awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Non commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, and the Expert Qualification Badge.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 30, from 9-11 a.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Rentfro officiating, assisted by Pastor Rick Wade.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
