Dollie Bernice Moses, a beacon of love, loyalty and grace, passed away early Sunday morning, September 17, 2023 at the age of 92. Born to the late Noah and Nettie (White) Breakfield in Brazil, Missouri, on May 1, 1931. Dollie lived a life full of passion, dedication and unwavering love for her family, friends, and many whom she claimed as one of her own.
Dollie was a pillar for her family. She was determined and had a strong work ethic. Dollie married Gilbert “Gib” Moses on June 20, 1953. Two daughters were born to this union, Lois and Karen. Dollie’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Dollie was saved and Baptized at the First Christian Church of Carthage. Dollie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and visiting with anyone. She would cook meals large enough to feed an army. In her later years, Dollie found joy tending to the cattle with her son-in-law, Jack. Dollie always shared a smile and a hug. Her strength, kindness, and patience were a testament to her character and will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include her two daughters whom she adored: Lois Haworth and Karen Gilliam (husband, Jack); two granddaughters: Meridee Ryder (husband, Kyle) and Natalie Gilliam; honorary children: Janice Weiss (Fiancé, Bob Schumer), Lesa Villmer (husband, Tom), and Bill "Joe" Martin (wife, Patti); honorary grandchildren: Marisa (Andy) Cook, Nicholas (Kim) Weiss, Megan (Nathan) Allen, Jordan and Katherine Villmer; honorary great grandchildren: Charlotte, Cody, Bella, Reagen, Rilee, Harper, Alexander, and Avery. Dollie is also survived by brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her father and mother, Dollie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gib Moses; son-in-law, Jim Haworth; honorary son, Ronnie Moses; six brothers: Clyde, Lennie, Lawrence, Jimmy, Ernest and Roy Breakfield; three sisters: sisters: Pearl Marie Brakefield, Ruby Ferguson, and Alvenia Thomas; and many other relatives.
Friends may call on the family Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 11 am to 2 pm at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, MO 63664. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm held in the DeClue Chapel. Elder Mike Jarvis will be officiating Dollie’s service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Interment and final prayers will be held at Lost Creek Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have cared for the arrangements of Ms. Dollie and ministered to her family.
