Dennis Paul Hammond of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on July 16, 2005, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Missouri at the age of 49 years, 1 month and 28 days. He was born on May 19, 1956 in Berryman, Missouri, a son of Gladys (Haffer) Hammond and the late Harold Hammond.
Paul, as he was known to family and friends, was united in marriage to Barbara Ames on August 9, 1975 at Cadet, Missouri, and three children were born to this union. He was a loving husband and father, a dear son and brother, and a treasured friend to many.
In addition to his father, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Hammond; a sister, Lavern Hammond; and a brother-in-law, Dick Woods.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving and devoted wife Barbara Hammond of Potosi, his dear mother Gladys Hammond of Irondale; his daughters LaDonna Smith and husband Kenneth of Eureka, CA, and April Hammond of Potosi; his son James Hammond of Potosi; three sisters, Louise Willard and husband Bill of Hazelwood, Marie Woods of Irondale, Alma Thurmond and husband Jim of Cuba; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the Britton Chapel, with the Rev. John Welch officiating. Serving as pallbearers were James Hammond, Chris Misuraco, Harry Woods, Keith Hammond, Tony Benson, Will Wade, Buck Ward and Eddie Barczenski; honorary pallbearers, George Kean and Mike Sanders.
Interment was in the Haffer Cemetery at Berryman. All arrangements were entrusted to the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
