Deborah Ann Holt, known by her family and friends as Debbie, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She was born on July 19, 1952, in Cadet, Missouri. Born as one of eight siblings, Debbie was the daughter of the late Floyd Portell and Myrtle (Whitter) Portell.
Debbie grew up in Cadet until later moving to Potosi where she attended School. She held a steadfast career in the grocery store industry. Debbie was dedicated and a hard worker. Her journey began at Lynn Thebeau's Quickshop, followed by positions at Town and Country, Country Mart, and concluding her professional life at Harps.
A true sports enthusiast, Debbie had a passion for watching Cardinal Baseball, Mizzou Basketball, Mizzou Football, and various sports in general and often called her family to let each one know what game was on TV. She took great joy in supporting her family, often attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Debbie's love for her family extended into countless treasured moments spent with her siblings, reflecting the bond they shared.
Debbie is survived by her son, Jason Portell, and his wife, Christy. She leaves behind three grandchildren: Ryan Portell and his wife, Kasara; Jared Portell and his wife, Zoe; and Lacey Portell and her fiancé, Kyle Miller. Additionally, she was a proud grandmother to five great-grandchildren: Ren, Benton, Jameson, Avie, and Anderson. Debbie is also survived by four siblings: Danny Portell, Gary Portell and his wife, Janet, Nona Thebeau and her husband, Rev. Lynn; Peggy Turnbough and her husband, Rev. Mark; as well as her sister-in-law, Joann Portell; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings: Lynn Portell, Bonnie Gibson and her husband Clifton, and Kay Harmon and her husband Ronnie.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service starting at 7:00 PM. Both events will take place at the DeClue Funeral Home, located at 301 E High Street, Potosi, MO 63664.
