David Edward Skiles, born on March 22, 1957, in Farmington, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was a son to the late Clarence Edward Skiles and Mary Jane (Smith) Skiles, and a devoted father, brother, and loving friend.
David led a life defined by hard work and passion, particularly in the field of construction. He was known for his dedication and commitment to his craft. Outside of work, David found joy in various pastimes, including many enjoyable games of pool and horseshoes. He cherished the tranquility of nature, often times hunting and fishing. One of his most valued traditions was tending to his vegetable garden, where March marked the time for planting his beloved tomato plants.
A quieter man by nature, David had a big heart and was most sensitive to those close to him. He loved spending time with family, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. He often delighted in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching NASCAR races or enjoying an episode of his favorite show, Seinfeld. David and Anita shared a mutual admiration for mushroom hunting and watching movies together. His old John Deere tractor was among his treasures, symbolizing the hard word that he put into his land.
David leaves behind a loving family, including his loving companion of 33 years, Anita Portell; daughter Jennifer Tucker and her husband Kristopher, stepdaughter Sonya Moore, and two grandchildren, Alyson Modrow and her husband Aaron and Jayden Tucker; great-grandson Tucker Nathaniel Modrow; three siblings: John Skiles and his wife Joy, Frank Skiles and his wife Lynn, and Ruthie Skiles Essmyer and her husband Chris. Additionally, David's memory will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to his beloved family, David was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dustin Ryan Skiles, along with other dear relatives. He will be missed deeply by all whose lives he touched.
