David Howard McBean of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on March 21, 2012 at the age of sixty nine years, six months and twelve days. He was born on September 9, 1942 at Flint, Michigan a son to the late Howard McBean and Lucille (Waterhouse) McBean.
On January 3, 1982, David was united in marriage to Barbara Procter and they shared thirty seven wonderful years together. David was a Lieutenant Coronal in the United States Air Force. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a pilot. He flew jets and C140 airplanes. David worked for nearly thirty eight years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. There he worked on freight trains and then onto management level for trouble shooting. David retired from the railroad eight years ago.
David was a parishioner of the St. James Catholic Church. He received the sacrament of the sick Monday evening before his passing. David was also a member of Trenton, Missouri Elks Lodge #801.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Barbara McBean of Potosi; daughter Pam Paquette of Portland, Oregon; son Jimmy Raymond and wife Robin of Mississippi; grandchildren Josh, Jamie, Dillon, Austin; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral Mass was conducted on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 11 AM at the St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Welschmeyer officiating. Musical selections were provided by Mrs. Chala Short. Serving as pallbearers were Ed Stoothoff, Jimmy Raymond, Pat Campbell, Allen Arndt, Chris Arndt and Scott Bacon.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Calvary Cemetery where David received full military honors consisting of a gun solute, Taps and flag folding and presentation. In addition a fly over was organized by David's good friends Pat Campell and a co-pilot Ed Kemper. Fly over consisted of "tipping of the wings". This is an old tradition that pilots used to greet one another. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
