David Gene Graf of Cadet, Missouri departed this life September 25, 2008 at his residence, having reached the age of 68 years and 6 months. He was born on March 25, 1940 at Kirkwood, Missouri, a son of Henry J. Graf.
He was united in marriage on September 2, 1966 to Carol A. Luebke and they shared almost 42 years together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Graf was preceded in death by his daughter Cathrine Ann Minks and best friends Bill Miller and Bud Courtway.
Dave was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was named a lifetime member. He served in the United States Army as an electrician. He also served two tours in the Korea.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army he spent the rest of his working years in construction. Soon after retirement he found himself working in law enforcement and security.
Dave spent most morning?s visiting with his friends via CB radios. They would have pleasant conversations telling jokes and exchanging stories. These friends knew him by his CB handle name ?Tex?.
Mr. Graf had a deep passion for the outdoors. He had a school of fish known as ?Mr. Whiskers and family? that he loved feed. He often admired the horses romping in the fields near by.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife Carol A. Graf of Cadet, two daughters Juanita Courtway and husband Randy of Cadet, Debbie Barnett and husband Graden of Cadet, father Henry Graf and mother Francis Graf of St. Cloud Florida, brother John Graf of Hillsboro, sister Barbra Johnson and husband George of Arnold, 6 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Britton Chapel of Potosi, Missouri, with Rev. Dr. Gary Schack officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Luebke, Ralph Luebke, Ray Luebke, Randy Courtway, Graden Barnett, Harold Luebke, William Courtway and Dale Richard.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Graf-Courtway Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
