David Lee Akers of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on December 19, 2012 at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center having reached the age of sixty two years, seven months and twenty eight days. He was born on April 21, 1950 in Belleview, Missouri a son to Anna Belle Patterson and the late Kenneth Akers.
In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by a son David "D.J." Akers; granddaughter Ali Akers; father in law Lynn Litton; two brothers Ray Akers, Danny Patterson; sister Gayla Lands; step father Herman "Pat" Patterson; grandparents Fred and Hattie Akers.
David served in the United States Army from April 21, 1970 ~ December 9, 1971.
On December 19, 1981, David was united in marriage to Pat Litton and they shared thirty one years together.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Pat Akers of Potosi; mother Anna Belle Patterson of Mineral Point; step mother Helen Akers of Belgrade; mother in law Rose Ann Litton of Potosi; three sons Matt Akers and wife Tracy of Potosi; Billy Akers and wife Betty of Potosi; Bruce Akers and wife Dorothy of Potosi; five brothers Jim Akers and wife Randi of Potosi; Kenney Wayne Akers of Belgrade; Rick Akers and wife Sherrie of Belgrade; Tim Patterson of Mineral Point; Tom Patterson and wife Tina of Mineral Point; two sisters Sandy Parker and husband Terry of Arcadia Valley; Shelly Ernest and husband Hank of Ebo; two sisters in law Theresa Litton, Cindy Litton; ten grandchildren Dustin, Amber, Hattie, Shayley, Kaylynn, Addison, Austin, Dawson, Wyatt Akers and Blake Newcomer; two great grandchildren Dusty, AnnaBelle; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Reverend Thirza Sayers officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jim Akers, Joshua Litton, Scott Litton, Matt Akers, Billy Akers and Dustin Akers.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery were full military honors were presented by the United States Army and the local VFW Post# 6996. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
