Danny Johnson

April 26, 1954 — January 26, 2017

Danny Leroy Johnson of Caledonia, Missouri was born on April 26, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri. On September 21, 2007 Danny was united in marriage to Vivian Whaley and they shared nine years together.

Danny entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family having reached the age of sixty-two years and nine months.

Danny is survived by his wife, Vivian Johnson of Caledonia; two daughters: Mindy Boyer and husband Joe of DeSoto; Bethany Johnson of St. Louis; step daughter Melissa Williams and husband Ken of High Ridge, Mo.; step son James Sloan and wife Lacey of Farmington; brother John Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters: Connie Walton of Farmington; Patricia Lawson of California, Mo.; seven grandchildren: Lucian Mira, Erica Standefer, Jayme Standefer, Ethan Standefer, Nolan Boyer, Mason Boyer and J.R. Sloan; also surviving are many other relatives and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his mother, Verla (Stricklin) Smith; step father Jim Smith; an infant son; special nephew and the son he never had Michael Walton.

Danny had a strong work ethic, rarely missing work even when he did not feel "up to par". He had little respect for those who did not give 100% to their work. He worked many places during his life starting with Brown Shoe Company,  the shipyards (barges) in St. Louis, Chrysler, and then Able Industries where he became vice-president of the company. After retirement from Able, never one to sit still, he took a job at Lowes in Farmington where he worked until last year.

His love of all genres of music was great and he was a talented musician able to play drums, guitar, and mandolin. He inherited his love of music from his grandfather and Danny has passed that love to his grandchildren who also play music.

He was an avid fisherman. When younger, March 1st would find him casting his line into a stream at one of the trout parks hoping for a "lunker" and later in life  he fished lakes hoping for the "big one" that always seemed to get away.

Danny loved his farm and the view provided from his home. He raised cows and goats until he felt he needed more time to relax and he let them go. He gardened and kept his farm neat and well groomed.

He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell and play jokes. He spent a great deal of time laughing and being laughed with.

Danny loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and enjoyed being with them. He sometimes struggled to verbalize that love to them but was quick to tell everyone how proud he was of all of them.

Last but not least, everyone that knew Danny knew that he loved his beer ,kicked back with a "cold one" was one of his greatest pleasures. Danny will be sorely missed by all who loved him and by those whose life he touched in some way.
