Daniel Declue

Daniel Paul DeClue, Sr. passed away on April 16, 2018 at Mercy Hospital having reached the age of seventy-eight years. Daniel was born on October 29, 1939, in Potosi, a son to the late Fabian DeClue, Sr. and the late Theresa (Suiter) DeClue-Harrelson. On June 18, 1960, Daniel was united in marriage to Delores Dieter at St. James Catholic Church and they shared fifty-seven years together.

Daniel will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his beloved wife, Delores DeClue; three children: Rocky Boyer, Danette (Ed) Darling, and Dan "DP" (Robin) DeClue; siblings: Marjorie (Jay) Carmen, Iris Henderson Koch, and Jim (Erma) Harrelson; grandchildren: Jeremy (Cassie) Boyer, Todd (Jordan) Boyer, Jesse (Katie) Darling, Jacob Darling, Benjamin DeClue, and Madeline DeClue; great-grandchildren: Kimberly Boyer, Isabelle Boyer, Elizabeth Boyer, Lyla Boyer, Micah Boyer, Daniel Darling, and Aubrey Darling; and sister-in-law, Geraldine DeClue.

In addition to his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by his brothers: Edmond, Glennon, and Fabian "Ace" DeClue; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jesse "Bud" and Edith Dieter.

Danny was a longtime active parishioner of St. James Catholic Church where he served as a Lector, served on the parish council and enjoyed working many church picnics. He was a faithful member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society where he and Delores volunteered graciously at the food pantry. In addition, Danny served as president on the Sayer’s Senior Citizen’s Board. He enjoyed fixing and tinkering with things and sitting outside watching the birds and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. Summer BBQ’s were also among his favorite things to do. One would never have to worry about if there was going to be enough food to eat because Danny always fixed way more than was needed. However, above anything else he enjoyed, spending time with Delores and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was his favorite. Danny loved his family with all of his heart. He will forever live on through the memories that he has made with them.

Visitation for Daniel was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday, April 19, 2018, held at the DeClue Funeral Home, from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, April 19, 2018 beginning at 10:00 AM, held at St. James Catholic Church, celebrated by Fr. Richard Tillman, concelebrated by Fr. Rodger Fleming.

Interment was held at Calvary Cemetery. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
