Pastor Dale Coleman Blount of Potosi, Missouri peacefully departed this life on January 13, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family, having reached the age of eighty years, six months and fourteen days. He was born on June 30, 1932 in Huzzah, Missouri a son to the late Frank Blount and Grace (Coleman) Blount.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Bonnie Catherine Burgess; father in law Elder Noel Joseph Gibson and mother in law Louise Gibson.
Dale served in the United States Army from 1952 ~ 1954.
Dale was united in marriage to Juanita Gibson on June 3, 1955 at the Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Belgrade, Missouri. They shared fifty six years together.
Dale was an Ordained Minister of the BMAA, mechanic, carpenter, welder, underground maintenance. Brother Dale currently served as an assistant to the Pastor in the field of visitation outreach. He served on the Potosi High School Alumni Board.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Juanita Blount of Potosi; two sons Jeff Blount and wife Rae Ann of Huntsville,Texas; Jim Blount and wife Lisa of Springdale, Arkansas; two daughters Deiatre Gillam and husband Steven of Salem; Lanette Bieber and husband Jim of Gentry, Arkansas; brother William Wayne Blount and wife Josephine of Florissant, Missouri; ten grandchildren Cheryl Blount, Amy Garrow and husband Matt, Paul Gillam and wife Jenni, Lanita Burgess and husband Daniel, Nicolas Cook, Emily Cook, Dakota Bieber, Katrina Bieber, Joshua Blount, Alexander Blount; four great grandchildren Easton Burgess, Braden Burgess, Levi Gillam, Raven Gillam; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11 AM at the Potosi First Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Richards officiating assisted by Rev. Alan Joe Wilkerson, Rev. Dennis Baker, Rev. Wayne Gibson and Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs. Serving as pallbearers were Paul Gillam, Nicolas Cook, Dakota Bieber, Joshua Blount, Alexander Blount, Easton Burgess, Levi Gillam, Daniel Burgess, DeWayne Cook, Ken Blount, Braden Burgess and Matt Garrow. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Compton, James Simpson, Richard Heeter, Buck Brand, Larry DeClue, Bruce Franklin, Junior Mercer, Wayne Lore, Lawrence Dunlap, Wayne Isgriggs, Kelly Silvey, Jim Carroll, Gervis Eye and James Hoffman.
Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery with full military honors presented by the United States Army. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
