Curtis Ralph Vance of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on January 31, 2006 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 75 years, 11 months and 23 days. He was born on February 8, 1930 at Cadet, Missouri, a son of the late John Vance and Mildred (Wilkerson) Vance.
On August 22, 1963, Curtis was united in marriage to Wilma Lands and to this union six children were born. They enjoyed over 42 years of marriage. Curtis was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a dear brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Derwood Vance.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Wilma Vance of Mineral Point; four sons, Randy Vance and wife Laura of Potosi, Michael Vance and wife Antoinette of Mineral Point, Steve Vance and wife Lacy of Caledonia, Jerry Vance and wife Paula of Potosi; two daughters, Sherry Vance of Rolla, Glenda Drennen of Caledonia; three brothers, Carl Vance and wife Phyllis of St. Louis, Charles Vance of Potosi, Arnold Vance and wife Janette of Potosi; two sisters, Leaella Hill and husband Donald of Potosi, Marcella Worley of Gerald, Missouri; nieces, nephews; cousins; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 3, 2006 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Randy Vance, Jr., Kevin Vance, Chuck Vance, Arnold Vance, Jr., Derrick Hill, Matt Hill, Greg Vance and Jeff Vance; honorary pallbearers were Bob Nickelson and Donald ?Soup Bone? Riddle.
Interment and final prayers followed in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
