Dennis Wayne Lawson also know to many as “Whitey” or “Coach Lawson” of Cape Girardeau, Missouri formerly of Potosi, was born on January 25, 1955 in Bonne Terre, Missouri a son to the late Donald Lawson and the late Model (Collins) Lawson. On March 1, 1975, Dennis was united in marriage to Marcia Brown in Old Mines and there were three sons born to this union.
Dennis entered eternal rest on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital, Cape Girardeau, having reached the age of sixty-two years, nine months and five days.
Dennis will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his wife of forty-two years Marcia Lawson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three sons: Dennis Lawson, Jr. and wife Brandi of Republic, Missouri; Donald Roy Lawson and wife Racheal of Cape Girardeau; Jarod Lawson and wife Courtney of Springfield, Missouri; four brothers: Donnie Lawson and wife Sherry of Denver, Colorado; Randall Lawson and wife Lynna of Lebanon, Missouri; Rodney Lawson of Hopewell, Missouri; Bryan Lawson and wife Debbie of Hopewell; Vickie Lawson-Johnson and husband Bill of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Ellie, Maggie, Lane, Chase, Lilly, Leah and Luke Lawson; also surviving are a host of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces nephews and dear friends.
In addition to his father and mother, Dennis was preceded in death by his two sisters: Cheryl Diane Belfield and Carolyn Bowles; brother-in-law, James Dale Brown; two nephews: Jimmy Belfield and Michael Johnson; two nieces: Pamela Ellen Dudley and Vanessa Juliette.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. and Friday, November 3, from 12-2 p.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home 301 East High Street, Potosi, Missouri 63664.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ron Watts officiating.
Interment and final prayers will be held in the Hopewell Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
