Cletta Ula Blanche Volner Riley of Potosi, Missouri passed away on December 3, 2005 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of 95 years, 6 months and 15 days. She was born on May 19, 1910 at Cuba, Missouri to the late Charles Oscar Alley and Myrtle (Baldwin) Alley.
Cletta was united in marriage to Herbert Volner on July 18, 1923 and to this union eleven children were born. Mr. Volner preceded her in death on August 29, 1972. She later married Bill Golden, who also preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Stephen Kellog Riley on October 31, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Riley preceded her in death on November 7, 1993.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Volner, a daughter, Alberta Doss; grandchildren, Nancy Saunders and Charles Saunders; son-in-law, Carl Saunders; two sisters, Florence Johnson and Martha Cooper; brothers-in-law, Ed Johnson, George Monroe, Omar, Austin and Earl Volner; sisters-in-law, Sloma (Volner) Barton, Leoma (Volner) Farris, Dessie (O?Brian) Volner and Daisy (Britton) Volner; a step-daughter, Margaret (Riley) Hugdahl.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are her children, Frances Cooper and husband Lowell of Potosi, Joyce Lavera Saunders of Potosi, Howard Volner and wife Hilda of Mineral Point, Elmer Volner and wife Gladys of Potosi, Bobby Volner and wife Norma of Potosi, Charles Volner and wife Lealla of Arnold, Billy Volner of Republic, Jack Volner and wife Jane of Brighton, TN, Michael Volner and wife Angela of Mineral Point; forty-two grandchildren; ninety great-grandchildren; forty-four great great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Clouse) Volner and Gay (Nation) Volner; a brother-in-law, Jordan Cooper; step children; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Don Strauser officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Reggie Saunders, Jerry Doss, Bruce Volner, David Volner, Jeff Volner and Larry Volner.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
