Clarence Crawford

August 9, 1915 — July 15, 2008

Clarence Edward Crawford of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on July 15, 2008 at Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of ninety two years, eleven months and six days. He was born at Farmington, Missouri on August 9, 1915, a son of the late Jesse Edward Crawford and Mary Magdela (Burch) Crawford.

In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his son, David Crawford and his brother, Howard Crawford.

On December 31, 1938, he was united in marriage to Pauline Tedder at Farmington, Missouri. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He belonged to the Temple Baptist Church of Belgrade.

As a young man he was in the CCC; Civilian Conservation Corp, working in forestry. He was also the camp barber.

He was a deacon in his church for over fifty years; an Adult Sunday School Teacher; a member of the Lions Club Organization in Belgrade and served as Revolving Loan Fund Treasurer of the BMA of Missouri.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Pauline Crawford of Belgrade; his sons, Allen Crawford and wife Linda of St. Charles, Don Crawford and wife Carol of Ferguson; his daughter, Carol Hellwig and husband Lance of Florissant, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Crawford Kopf (former wife of David Crawford) and husband, Joe of Owensville; two sisters, Rose Herbst and husband Clarence of Farmington, Ruth Schmelzle and husband Joe of St. Louis; ten grandchildren; nineteen great- grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11 AM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. David Hellwig officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Crawford, Kirk Crawford, Dale Crawford, Kevin Crawford, Eric Hellwig and Steve Crawford.

Interment and final prayers were held at Liberty Baptist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi, Missouri.
