Charlie "Eddie" Mercille

Charles Edward Mercille, also known by his family and many friends as "Charlie” or “Eddie," was born on February 17, 1950 in Mineral Point, Missouri. He was a son to the late James A. Mercille and the late Betty J. (Portell) Mercille. On June 22, 1968, Charlie was united in marriage to his beloved wife Verna Faye Scott at the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Sullivan, Missouri and three children were born unto this union.

Charlie entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family having reached the age of sixty six years, ten months, and fifteen days.

Charlie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Verna Mercille of Mineral Point; son, Charles E. “CJ” Mercille, Jr. and wife Deanna of Mineral Point; two daughters: Casandra Lea “Cassie” Jarvis and husband Mark of Mineral Point, and Alicia Marie Bernhardt and husband Pepper of Potosi; three sisters: Alice “Midge” Hawkins and husband Don of Terre Du Lac, Deborah Boyer and husband Virgil of Park Hills, and Barbara “Jeannie” Pratt and husband Del of Mineral Point; eight grandchildren: Cole Mercille and fiancé Colbi Elliott, Lane Mercille, Wade Mercille, Gage Mercille, Kaylea Ruble and husband Trenton, Tyler Jarvis and Makayla Bueker, Holten Jarvis, and Tate Bernhardt; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his brother, James Francis Mercille, sister, Patricia Mercille; and granddaughter, Baby Girl Jarvis.

Visitation for Charlie will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 10:00 AM, held at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Rodger Fleming officiating.

Honoring their PaPa Charlie by serving as his pallbearers will be Cole Mercille, Lane Mercille, Holten Jarvis, Gage Mercille, Tyler Jarvis, Wade Mercille, and Trenton Ruble. Interment and final prayers will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi.
