Charles Edward Owens, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life on December 21, 2008 at the Autumn Meadows Nursing Home in Linn Missouri having reached the age of seventy five years and twenty one days. He was born on November 30, 1933, a son of the late Albert Houston Owens and Myrtle Haggard Owens.
On February 16, 1963, Charles married Blanche Smith and they shared forty five years together. He was a member of the Cross Roads Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Hamby.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife Blanche Owens of Potosi; two daughters Theresa Villmer and husband Richard Jefferson City; Debra McGinley of Washington; two sons Charles Edward Owens, Jr. and wife Connie of Wright City; Mark Houston Owens of Potosi; two brothers Ira Owens and wife Shirley of Potosi; Bobby Owens and wife Rose Ann of Potosi; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Carl Wilson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bryan Owens, Brandon Owens, Joey Owens, David Smith, Danny Smith, and Tim Rowe. Honorary Pallbearers were Elsie Villmer and Webb Villmer.
Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
