Carldine Dinzle Jarvis also known by family and friends as “CD” was born on April 19, 1937 at the family home in Mineral Point, Missouri. CD was one of fourteen children, a son to the late Eldridge “Dee” Jarvis and Della Mae (Blackwell) Jarvis. CD was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother. CD went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from Mercy Hospital Jefferson, having reached the age of 86.
On August 14, 1971, CD was united in marriage to Alice “Pat” Coleman and together, they built a beautiful family together. CD and Pat were married for nearly 53 years.
CD developed a strong work ethic at a young age which continued throughout his life. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through the fruit of his hands. In the prime of his career, CD built well over 200 homes, worked as a heavy equipment operator in excavating land, and also built various lakes. Another interesting part of CD’s career was the fact that he helped in the construction of the St. Louis Arch and the old Busch Stadium. CD was determined and was full of stamina. In fact, his age did not stop him from still yet splitting his own wood for his wood stove. Among the many things in life CD enjoyed were caring for his horses, Jake and Jed, being outdoors, watching westerns, Wheel of Fortune and Prices Right.
Beyond his professional life and the small things he enjoyed doing, CD was a man of profound faith, and often spoke of his love for God. He along with his wife Pat, were members of Potosi First Assembly of God for approximately 40 years. There, CD served as a door greeter and shared his infectious smile and sense of humor with many people through the years. CD was proud to have been able to help in building the churches gymnasium. CD lived a life of generosity and was blessed to be able to help others in need and struggling, never expecting anything back or an accolade.
Those who remain to treasure his memory and continue his legacy include his wife, Pat Jarvis; and eight children: Terry (Rena) Coleman, Donna (Mike) Bone, Connie (Travis) Harrison, Bryan (Monica) Jarvis, Sue Watkins, Linda Jarvis, Beverly Ann (Rick) Ellis, Christine (Donald) Halter; eight siblings: Lorene Douglas, Murlin (Barb) Jarvis, Ruby Smith, Piney Wakefield, Raydine (Beth) Jarvis, Nadine (Jim) Coffman, Nancy Spurgeon, and Roger (Kathy) Jarvis. CD also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a very dear friend, Dave Holschen.
In addition to his parents, CD was preceded in death by five siblings: Melvin Jarvis, Hurldin Jarvis, Jerry Jarvis, Hershel Jarvis, Randall Jarvis; and many other dear family members.
