Carol Reed

Carol Jean Reed, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, was born on April 15, 1949 in St Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late William Roy Nelson and Alta Corine (Blount) Edwards. Carol passed away peacefully in her home on Monday evening, April 29, 2024, at the age of 75.

Those who remain to treasure her memory include her children: Robert "Rob" Reed II, and Michelle Reed; three grandchildren: Eli Reed, Gavin Reed, and Hayden Gaston; sister, Debbie Robinson (husband, Barry); sisters-in-law: Patti Reed-Cook, and Rhonda Reed. Carol also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Corine Edwards; father and stepmother, Bill and Corrine Nelson; husband, Robert "Bob" Reed on November 2, 2023; and her sister, Antoinette "Toni" Patrick.

On July 1, 1967, Carol married Robert “Bob” Reed and they shared 56 years together. Carol could be described as a gentle and kindhearted individual. Carol’s life was rich with interests and activities that reflected her zest for life. She enjoyed having fun. Whether it was family gatherings, or her frequent friend gatherings and luncheons, to fun trips, she was a true joy to be around. Carol carried a deep love for her family, with her children and grandchildren being the center of her world. Carol knew that one of the greatest gifts that life had to offer were the friends and memories that you gather and cherish along life’s journey. Carol left an imprint on the hearts of many and her memory will forever be held close to those who loved her.

In celebrating Carol’s life, her family invites you to join them for a time of visitation at DeClue Funeral Home on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of her Memorial Service at 1 p.m., officiated by Elder Mike Jarvis. Interment will follow in the White Oak Grove Cemetery in Potosi, where her and Bob will be laid to rest together.
