Carlene Chandler, of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on June 4, 2006 at her residence, having reached the age of 70 years, 11 months, and 9 days. She was born on June 26, 1935 in Dubach, Louisiana, a daughter of Willie Slayter and Mary (Templeton) Slayter.
Carlene was a member of the Potosi Church of God. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Carlene was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Slayter.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her daughters, Diane Wade and husband Jim of Mineral Point, Destrya Owens of Potosi, LaDonna Thebeau and husband Donald of Potosi; son, Vincent Chandler and wife Donna of Columbia; four brothers Buck Slayter and wife Lois of Midland, TX, Bill Edge and wife June of Monroe, LA, John Edge and wife Ruby of Start, LA, Paul Slayter and wife Judy of Rayville, LA; sister Sarah Brashears of Rayville, LA; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Roger Taber officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Wade, Adam Grindstaff, Brad Sampson, Pvt. Kenneth Owens, Nathan Yarbrough and Glen Yarbrough.
Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
