Carl Ray Thurmond of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on October 6, 2011 at his residence having reached the age of fifty five years, ten months and twenty nine days. He was born on November 7, 1955 at Richwoods, Missouri a son to the late William Thurmond and Blanche (Rogers) Thurmond.
On September 24, 1977, Carl was united in marriage to Laverne Littrell and they shared thirty four years together.
Carl worked in mobile homes for over thirty years and loved his job. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his pride and joy Tyler. He loved his family and spending time with him. His grandchildren were his world.
Over the years he developed a new hobby of dumpster diving. He loved it and done it any chance he got.
Carl had many friends and if you needed him, he was there day or night. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He touched many lives and will be missed deeply.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by four brothers Bob Thurmond, Frank Thurmond, Lewis Thurmond, Oscar Thurmond; three sisters Virginia Barton, Nellie Heads and Arlene Dunkin.
Survivors are wife Laverne Thurmond of Potosi; two daughters Carla (Lee) Miller of Potosi; Tracy DeClue of Potosi; son Earl Jones of Potosi; two brothers John (Shirley) Thurmond of Sullivan; Leo Thurmond of Richwoods; sister Shirley (Donald) Butler of Farmington; four grandchildren (two very special grandsons Tyler Miller and Hayden White), three great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Bobby Thurman and Rev. Ray Littrell officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Willard Littrell, Muril Littrell, Art Littrell, Ray Littrell, Herb Littrell and Steve Littrell.
Interment and final prayers were held at Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
