Carl Lachance

December 4, 1927 — January 8, 2011

Carl Leon LaChance of Salem, Missouri departed this life on January 8, 2011 at the Seville Care Center having reached the age of eighty three years, one month and four days. He was born on December 4, 1927 at Mineral Point, Missouri a son to the late Sylvester “Vess” LaChance and Dora (Cantrell) LaChance.

On April 10, 1943 Carl was united in marriage to Ruby Blair and shared forty two years together. Three children were born to that union Leroy LaChance of Potosi, Phyllis Hochstatter of Potosi, and Jenny Allen of Potosi.

Carl served in the United States Army from 1945 – 1946. He was proud to have had the opportunity to serve our Nation. He was a member of the local Potosi VFW post 6996.

On August 20, 1986, Carl was united in marriage to Shar Conway and they shared twenty four years.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his first wife Ruby LaChance; three brothers Wilburn LaChance, Leo LaChance, Leonard LaChance; mother and father in-law Ramie and Lugean Halbrook; brother in law David Halbrook and a great grandson C.J LaChance.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Shar LaChance of Salem; three sons Leroy LaChance and wife Sue of Mineral Point; Steven Conway and wife Angelina of Salem; Kevin Conway and best friend Lisa Highley of Salem; two daughters Phyllis Hochstatter and husband Larry of Potosi; Jeanette Allen and husband Dr. Larry W. of Potosi; sister in law Debbie Light and husband James of Salem; two brothers in law Ray Halbrook of Stockton; Vernie Halbrook and best friend Diana of Salem; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many others relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11 Am at the DeClue Chapel with Pastor Bruce Pittman officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Shannon Sitton, Blaine Coleman, Jason Thebeau, Eddie LaChance, Cody LaChance and Mitchell Conway. Honorary pallbearers were Neil Cooper, Billy Gibson, Bob Pitt, Dr. Rustico Simpelo, Bob Foshee, Tom Morgan and Bob Kennedy.

Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
