Bonnie Joan Gibson of Cadet, Missouri, was born on November 27, 1939 in Cadet, a daughter to the late Floyd Portell and the late Myrtle (Whitter) Portell. Bonnie went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the age of 82.
On January 26, 1957, Bonnie was united in marriage to Virgil Clifton Gibson Jr. and they shared 58 years of life and love together. Bonnie loved her Lord and Savior. She was one of the longest members of the Potosi Church of God (Reviving Hope). She loved her family and all the time she was able to spend with them. Bonnie always looked forward to family gatherings would always cook enough food for an army. Bonnie enjoyed going outside and picking wild onions and mushroom hunting in past years. Most recently, one could find Bonnie talking on the phone or playing on her laptop. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma and sister.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include her two daughters: Vickie Emily and husband Jeff, Cheyrl Boyer and husband Mike; three grandchildren: Jennifer Saunders, Cory Emily and wife Heather, and Kayla Boyer; ten great grandchildren: Lane, Owen, Joleen, Cory Jr., Blake, Dayton, Devon, Nevaeh, Kolton, and Waylon; one great-great granddaughter, Siraiya; siblings: Lynn Portell and wife JoAnn, Danny Portell, Gary Portell and wife Janet, Nona Thebeau and husband Lynn, Peggy Turnbough and husband Mark, and Debbie Holt; In-laws: Herbert and Nancy Gibson, Marsha Gibson and Robert Boyer. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her father and mother, Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Clifton Gibson Jr.; sister, Glenda Kay Harmon; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Virgil Clifton Sr. and Maudie Gibson; and many in-laws and dear family members.
A time of visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Friday, November 18th, from IO AM until the time of her Funeral Service at 11 AM, held at Reviving Hope Church of God, 10127 W State Highway 8, Potosi, MO. 63664. Interment followed at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Potosi.
