Bob G. Smith of Potosi, Missouri was born on March 29, 1932 in Arkansas, a son to the late Grover Smith and the late Artie (Felton) Smith.
On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Bob went to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence having reached the age of eighty-four years, eleven months, and fifteen days.
Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his beloved wife, Joyce Smith of Potosi; two sons: Scott Smith and wife Kim of Potosi and Timothy Smith and wife Dawn of Farmington; sisters: Leta Forbes of Houston and Sonya Cunningham of Springfield; sister-in-law: Judith Smith of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren: Madison Smith, MacKenzie Smith, Peyton Smith and wife Hayley, Shay Smith, McKinnley Smith, and Alayna Smith; and two great-grandchildren: Rylee and Lily Smith.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his sisters: Marylou Cook and husband Harold and Cleda Dawson and husband Verl; brother, Alfred Smith; and brother-in-law, Clay Forbes.
Bob was a faithful active member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and Savior, and served Him diligently. He loved his family with all of his heart. He cherished the time he spent with them, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He married the love of his life, Joyce Shields on March 19, 1961in Springfield, Missouri, and they shared fifty-six years together. Bob will forever live through the many lives he touched. We know that this is not the end of his life, it is only the beginning.
Visitation for Bob was held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A Funeral Service for Bob was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Potosi Southern Baptist Church, with Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs officiating. Musical selections were “It is well with my soul” and Sweet Beulah land”.
Honoring Bob by serving as his pallbearers were Donald Cook, David Cunningham, Steve Dawson, Chip Smith, Randy Cunningham, Jimmy Cunningham, and Paul Smith. Honorary pallbearers: Ryan Long, Dane Long, Derek Dawson, Cameron Cook, Justin Cook, and Connor Cunningham.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.
All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
