Bill Warren

September 3, 1935 — April 25, 2008

Billy Gene Warren of Potosi Missouri departed this life on April 25, 2008 at his residence, having reached the age of seventy-two years, seven months and twenty-two days. He was born on September 3, 1935 at Fountain Farm, Missouri, a son of the late Archie W. Warren and Mary Lucinda (Vance) Warren.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Betty (Warren) Utnage of St. Louis.

On December 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Lamkey and they shared over fifty-three years of a wonderful life together. He was a loving and devoted husband; a dear uncle, brother; and brother-in-law. He was a very good friend and neighbor to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

He went into the Navy in 1954 and served his country for four years. He worked for several different people in his lifetime, including Firestone, Huff?s Service Station, Roberson Lumber; he helped out at Maxwell Hardware, Lawson Refrigeration, and he served thirty-two years at the Department of Missouri Transportation before retirement. He just recently retired from Britton Funeral Home after fifteen years of service there.

Bill was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves a big hole in the community in which he lived. He helped everyone and anyone in need. He spent many hours drinking coffee with friends and lending a helping hand. They say a man is not measured by who he is when he?s here among us ? it?s what he leaves behind when he?s gone that determines his greatness. Bill was a great man. He leaves many memories, friends and loved ones. True friends are far and few between and now there is one less.

He was a member of Lost Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed his version of ?going fishing? by taking Evelyn to Captain D?s.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life are his loving wife, Evelyn Lamkey Warren of Potosi; a brother, Carl Warren and wife, Sally of Branson; two sisters, Ruth Chandler and husband, Eddie of Farmington, Helen Camillo and husband, Richard of Potosi; nieces; nephews; cousins; many other relatives and a host of friends made during his lifetime.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bryan Harbison, Bob Roth, Mack Jarvis, Wayne Lamkey, Larry Volner and Steve Pruitt.

Interment and final prayers were held at the New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
