Betty Ruth Emily of Potosi, Missouri departed this life September 11, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of eighty six years, four months and twenty days. She was born on April 22, 1924 at St. Louis, Missouri a daughter to the late Elsie Triplett Vaughn.
Betty was a member of the St. James Catholic Church for many years.
Betty was a kind and happy person. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, doing needlework, crafts, gardening and growing beautiful flowers.
She enjoyed going to the Muny Opera with her daughters and always looked forward to seeing all of the musicals. Betty enjoyed taking trips, whether they be large or small.
Betty’s greatest loved was for her family and her beloved pets. Her greatest goal in life was to be a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Five generations are a testament to her success in reaching that goal. Her children and grandchildren always brought smiles to her face, especially when meeting and holding a new grandchild for the first time. That beautiful smile and love will be thoroughly missed.
In addition to her mother, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Emily, a daughter Linda Emily and step father Virgil Vaughn.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are two sons Norman Emily and wife Doris of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Dennis Emily and wife Fran of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four daughters Martha Lamkemeyer and husband Jerry of Wright City, Missouri, Faye Weston and husband Mike of Potosi, Virginia Ames and husband David of Potosi, Tammy King and husband Mike of Bonne Terre, Missouri; step sister Vivian Barnes of East Alton, Illinois; two sister in laws Lena Emily of Potosi, Jeanne Emily of Richwoods; ten grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; fifteen step great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10 AM at the St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Danielsen CSSR officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jon Peacock, Craig Emily, Jeff Chazelle, Blaine Chazelle, Derek Chazelle and Ray Keath.
Interment and final prayers were held at Calvary Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
