Betty Lou Breakfield was born in Leadwood, Missouri on August 2, 1941, a daughter to the late Howard Hulsey and the late Lottie Mae (Poucher) Hulsey. Betty went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 7, 2024, having reached the age of 82 years, 8 months and 5 days. On October 6, 1962, Betty was united in marriage to Beaufard Monroe Breakfield in Leadwood, Missouri and they were blessed with 58 years and 3 children to this union.
Those who remain to cherish her memory include three children: Dennis “Dink” Breakfield (wife, Paula), Sandra Buford (husband, Harold), and Roger Breakfield (wife, Michele); grandchildren: Jason Breakfield (wife, Brandi), Brandon Breakfield, Kayla (Breakfield) Chapman, Ashley (Buford) Hartley (husband, John), Cammie Buford, Zachary Breakfield, Kennedy (Breakfield) Nipper (husband, Ethan), and Joshua Melton; great grandchildren Riston Breakfield, Jaylee Breakfield, Braxton Breakfield, Caedon Lowry, Jadyn Lowry, Raleigh Lowry, Kaleb Chapman and Allie Hartley; siblings: Brenda Berry (husband, Claude), Norma Hulsey, Vickie Horton and Annette Pinson; In-laws: Mildred Campbell, Charles and Vivian Ledbetter, Margaret Breakfield, David Breakfield (wife, Mary) and Baby Breakfield. In addition to her late father and mother, Betty was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Beaufard, sister, Carolyn Kite, and in-laws: Eddie and Bessie Breakfield, Virgil and Ruth Breakfield, Montie Carl Breakfield Sr., Darrell Breakfield, Bill Horton, Mike Pinson, Tom Campbell, and James Russell Breakfield.
Betty was a devoted member of Grassy Hollow Baptist Church since 1962. Through the years, she served as Sunday school teacher, VBS Director and various other positions in the church. She also served on the Washington County Library Board for a number of years. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, sister and aunt to many special nieces and nephews, as well as a great friend and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by many.
In remembering Betty’s life, friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday evening, April 10, 2024 from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at Grassy Hollow Baptist Church on Thursday, April 11th from 9 am until the time of her Funeral Service at 11 am. Interment will follow at Grassy Hollow Cemetery.
