Betty Zane Akers of Caledonia, Missouri entered into rest on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Parkland Health Center having reached the age of eighty four years, three months and eleven days. She was born on March 27, 1931 in Defiance, Missouri, a daughter to the late Arisdale Fluesmeir and Nan (Lowery) Fluesmeir.
On June 14, 1953, Betty was united in marriage to Donald Akers in Belgrade, Missouri and they shared sixty two years together.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband Don Akers of Caledonia; three sons Ronnie Akers and wife Pam of Park Hills; Lloyd Akers and wife Mary of Wappapello; Robert Akers of Caledonia; one daughter Michelle Forsythe and husband Danny of Farmington; brother Jack Fluesmeir and wife Doris of St. Charles; two sisters Mary Barnes and husband Claude of St. Charles; Pat Koch of St. Charles; eight grandchildren Chris Green; Hilary Mosier; Amber Akers; Sarah Green; Laurie Coombs; Nicholas Akers; Justin Forsythe; Jesse Forsythe; ten great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Selma Akers of Belgrade; also surviving are many other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation for Betty was held Friday, July 10, 2015 from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday, July 11, after 9:00 am till the time of service at 11:00 am at the DeClue Funeral Home.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Elder Mike Jarvis officiating. Honoraing Betty by serving as pallbearers were Chris Green, Nicholas Akers, Jesse Forsythe, Kevin Coombs, Keith Harbison and Rodney English.
Interment and final prayers will take place at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, Mo.
