Bertha Akers

Bertha Lou Akers of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on June 23, 2009 at St. Johns Mercy Hospital having reached the age of eighty years, five months and twenty nine days. She was born on December 25, 1928 at Belgrade, Missouri a daughter to the late James Dennis and Eva Akers Dennis.

On December 25, 1949, Bertha was united in marriage to Lindell Akers and they shared almost sixty years together.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by three sisters Eva Akers Dennis, Jesse Jarvis, Dorothy Terrell; seven brothers James Dennis, Norman Dennis, Homer Dennis, Alvin Dennis, John Dennis, Earl Dennis, Lonnie Dennis; three nieces Cathy Censky, Norma Perrin, Kevin Maxwell.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life are husband Lindell Akers of Belgrade; two sons Mark Akers and wife Sharon of St. Louis; Kim Akers and wife Sandra of Illinois; five grandchildren Sean Akers, John Akers, Hannah Akers, Zoe Akers, Will Akers; two sisters Vivian Censky of St. Louis; Ila Gallaher of Indiana; many other sisters in law; brothers in law; family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 11 AM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Linda Nelson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Dennis, Rod Dennis, Mike Akers, Bruce Akers, John Akers and Al Jenicek.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
