Beatrice Marie Cover, aged 90, passed away peacefully on November 10 2024, in Potosi, Missouri. Born on May 22, 1934, in Mineral Point, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Elmer and Olive (DeClue) Cantrell.
Marie devoted many years of her life to the Washington Memorial Hospital, where she served diligently in both the operating room and the emergency room. Her career was a testament to her unwavering commitment and care for the community.
Known for her great sense of humor and vibrant spirit, Marie was truly a social butterfly. She enjoyed her mornings at Hardees, where she would gather with friends at the "Breakfast Club," sharing laughter and stories. In her leisure time, she found joy in quilting, a talent she proudly showcased, and she relished attending the Sayers Senior Center for lunch and daytime events.
Marie held dear memories of many hunting trips with her late husband Leo "Junior" Cover, as well as fishing excursions with her Cantrell and Cover families, often concluding those outings with joyful family fish fries.
Marie is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah Whitten and Rex, Peggy Vance and Mike, Sandra Knowles and Buddy, and her son Leo Wayne Cover. She was a proud grandmother to Becky Whitten, Tina Bourisaw, Sherry and Reggie Brasher, Shawntay and Barry Sitzes, Michael and Amber Vance, and Sarah Vance. Additionally, she delighted in the company of her great-grandchildren: Christopher Cover, Lindsey Griffith, Kameron Eye, Quintin Sitzes, Lexie Griffith, Peyton Griffith, Addison Vance, Michael Vance III, Clayton Vance, and Jasper Vance, as well as her great-great-grandchildren: Brentlee Sitzes, Cordelia Eye, Howie Eye, and Elliott Cover; brothers: Lloyd (Doris) Cantrell and Buck Cantrell. She also leaves behind dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leo "Junior" Cover, her second husband Lawrence Missey, her daughter Dianna Lawson, and granddaughter Nikki Lawson. She was also preceded by her brothers: Junior Cantrell and Bernard Cantrell, and sisters-in-law Dorothy, Connie, Sharon, and Sandra Cantrell.
A visitation will be held at DeClue Family Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri on November 15, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM and again on November 16, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service will take place on November 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by her burial at Redbud Memorial Gardens at 11:15 AM.
Marie's warmth, humor, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
