Barbara Singer

Barbara Jane Singer was born December 22, 1940 in Cadet, Missouri, a daughter of the late Joe Emily and Hazel (Nickelson) Emily of Cadet.

She departed her life on Monday, January 8, 2007 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis having reached the age of 66 years and 17 days.

Barbara was united in marriage to Francis Jack Singer on January 7, 1961 at St. Joachim?s Church in Old Mines, Missouri. He preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Kirby Lynn Singer.

She loved her family and traveling with her sisters and friends. Together they visited thirty-one states. She loved to work puzzles, read books and make her flowers beautiful. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include a daughter, Shelley Rath and husband Mike of Cadet; a son, Matthew Singer of Cadet; two grandchildren, Joshua Rath and Sam Rath of Cadet; five brothers, Danny Emily and wife Pam of Hillsboro, Terry Emily of Cedar Hill, Jeffrey Emily and wife Vickie of Cadet, Scott Emily of Cadet; Mark Emily and wife Joyce of Texas; five sisters, JoAnn Portell and husband Lynn of Cadet, Janet Portell and husband Gary of Ste. Genevieve, Gloria Price and husband Ben of Cadet, Sharon Minx and husband Wayne of Cadet and Sydney Emily of Potosi; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

A memorial service was held on January 20, 2007 with Rev. John Emily officiating. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
