Barbara Hochstatter

March 16, 1951 — June 21, 2006

Barbara Diane (Lake) Hochstatter of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on June 21, 2006 at her residence, having reached the age of 55 years, 3 months and 5 days. She was born on March 16, 1951 at Bonne Terre, Missouri, a daughter of Joan (Pier) Lake and the late Dr. Edward William Lake, D.O.

She was united in marriage to Larry Hochstatter on May 30, 1981 at Potosi, Missouri and they shared twenty five years of marriage together.

Barbara Lake Hochstatter was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, church member, friend, and most of all, Child of God. She taught for 33 years at Potosi Elementary School, working with learning disabled children and their families. Also, she has worked with the van ministries at Potosi Southern Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. At both churches, hundreds of children who would not have had an opportunity to hear God?s Word, were given that opportunity by Miss Barb. Her children and grandchildren were her treasures and they always made her smile. She was a major influence in many lives because she always walked the walk and talked the talk in a way that pleased God. Barbara was a best friend to her daughters, husband, and co-workers. She was a willing servant who many times neglected herself in order to care for others. She will be sorely missed here on earth, but we know she is rejoicing in Heaven.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her husband Larry Hochstatter of Potosi; her mother, Joan Marie Lake of Potosi; three daughters, Niki Seabourne Rawe and husband David of Potosi, Heather Seabourne Merseal and husband Jason of Potosi, Stephanie Boyer and husband Michael of Park Hills; her son Edward Roy ?Teddy? Hochstatter and wife Stacie of Potosi; one brother, Dr. Edward Lake, III and wife Mary of Farmington; two sisters, Marcia Lake of Columbia, Christine Nickelson and husband Gary of St. Louis; seven grand children; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Potosi First Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers were Virgil Breakfield, Boyd Eye, Jason Breakfield, Mike Mapes, Scott Courtois and Russell Breakfield.

Interment and final prayers were held at New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
