Austin Sam Cantrell of Park Hills, Missouri departed this life on November 1, 2011 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center having reached the age of seventy two years, one month and eight days. He was born on September 24, 1939 at Mineral Point, Missouri a son to the late Elisha Cantrell and Jane (Cain) Cantrell.
On August 5, 1958, Sam was united in marriage to Helen Cain and they shared fifty three years together.
Sam was a member of the Big River Church. He was a minister of the Gospel for thirty eight years and his favorite quote was "Just one more soul".
Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, going to church events and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by three sisters Estella Pearl Cantrell, Edna Mae Cantrell, Irene Esabella Cantrell; four brothers John Dixon Cantrell, Noah Joseph Cantrell, Carl Ray Cantrell and Clyde Hillary Cantrell.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Helen Cantrell of Park Hills; two daughters Diana Cantrell of Park Hills; Kimberly (Ray) Glore of Mineral Point; son Austin "Bub" (Lisa) Cantrell of Park Hills; two sisters Audrey (Hank) Ward of Irondale; Marie Cantrell of Bonne Terre; brother Marion Cantrell of Irondale; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; special nephew Jason (Megan) Cain of England; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral Services were conducted on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Steve Campbell and Firmin Gettinger officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Glore, Steve Fitzwater, Dale Barnes, Ray Glore, Jr., Paul Tindell and Matt Cantrell.
Interment and final prayers were held at New Diggins Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
