Aulden Arndt

April 24, 1920 — January 21, 2008

Aulden Farrell Arndt of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on January 21, 2008 at Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, eight months and twenty-eight days. He was born on April 24, 1920 at Desloge, Missouri, a son of the late William Allen Arndt and Florence (Wells) Arndt.

He was united in marriage on January 14, 1939 to Dorothy Mae Gibson at Hopewell, Missouri. Dorothy preceded him in death on March 12, 2003. They shared over sixty-four years of marriage together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was a member of Potosi First Assembly of God Church. He loved to help others and he loved children. He and Dorothy fostered over thirty children in their home.

Aulden loved to go out fishing and delighted in the scenery of nature, while always hoping to catch a big fish. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He also had a fantastic sense of humor and would always play tricks on everyone. Aulden loved the Lord with all of his heart and was faithful to his church. Among the many great things Aulden loved, he especially loved to eat. There wasn?t anything he didn?t like.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stanley McGough, a granddaughter, baby McGough; a brother, Raymond Arndt, sisters-in law, Bernice Arndt and Virginia Arndt.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his children, Farrell Arndt and wife Sharon of Alton, IL, Darrell Arndt and wife Alberta of Potosi, Delores Yount and husband Jim of Potosi, Brenda Cowley and husband Thomas of Potosi, Judy Woodside and husband David of Washington, Rita Daugherty and husband Nolan of House Springs, Diane McKinley and husband Mike of Bonne Terre; foster children, Patricia Allen, George Pickett and Rose Ann James; a brother, Herman Arndt of Potosi; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11 AM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Curtis Bill Warren officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Aaron Arndt, Scott Harris, Jimmy Harris, Brandon Woodside, Trevor Woodside and Mitch McKinley.

Interment and final prayers were held at Hopewell Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
