Annie Marie Vandergriff of Potosi, Missouri passed away on May 12, 2016 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of ninety eight years, nine months, and twenty days. She was born on July 22, 1917, in Doe Run, Missouri, a daughter to the late George Rook and the late Mary (Harp) Rook. On October 20, 1935, Annie was united in marriage to her late husband Oscar “Boots” Vandergriff.
Annie is survived by her three sons: Clyde Vandergriff, Kenneth Vandergriff and wife Alice, and Roger Vandergriff and wife Rhonda – all of Mineral Point; two daughters: Joan Huff of Sahuarita, Arizona, and Brenda Vandergriff of Mineral Point; ten grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Annie is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Annie is preceded in death by her beloved husband: Oscar “Boots” Vandergriff; son: Milford Vandergriff; grandson: Brian Vandergriff; great-granddaughter: Lacey Clapp; daughters-in-law: Elva Vandergriff and Margaret Vandergriff; sisters: Audrey Henson and Effie Turnbough; and brothers: Earl Rook, Charlie Rook, Frank Rook, Henry Rook, and Anson Rook.
Visitation for Annie was held on May 14, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM and on Sunday, May 15, 2016, beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service. A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, in the DeClue Memorial Chapel.
Honoring Annie by serving as her pallbearers were Barry Vandergriff, Alan Vandergriff, Matthew Vandergriff, Jake Vandergriff, Jeremy Harmon, and Steven Fitzwater.
Interment and final prayers were held at the New Diggins Cemetery. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
