Amos Jackson

August 14, 1930 — November 1, 2016

Amos Jehiel “A.J.” Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri was born on August 14, 1930 in Cromwell, Oklahoma, a son to the late Amos J. Jackson and the late Rosie (Hall) Jackson. On May 24, 1975, A.J. was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Patsy Jackson.

A.J. departed this life on November 1, 2016 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center having reached the age of eighty six years, two months, and eighteen days.

Survivors include his two sons: Dwight Jackson and wife Brenda of Shiloh, Illinois, and Bob Bergmann and wife Debbie of Springfield, Illinois; three daughters: Winona Matheson and husband Ross of Ellisville, Donna White and husband Mike of Eufaula, Alabama, and Linda Laws of Festus; twenty one grandchildren; and twenty five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, A.J. is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Jackson; two sons: Mike and Terry Bergman; and siblings: Bill Jackson, Virgie Jackson, Arnold Jackson, Etta Mae Jackson, and Geneva Jackson.

A.J. was a resident of St. Louis for sixty-five years. He was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenter's Union for sixty-four years installing grocery store fixtures for over thirty of those years. He enjoyed woodworking and built his own log retirement home in Potosi, Mo. He was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed a good baseball game. He had a smile for everyone and a story for any who would listen.

Visitation for A.J. will be held at the Vandover Baptist Church on Saturday, November 5, 2016, beginning at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, with Rev. Steve Lawrence officiating. Vandover Baptist Church is located at 1714 Smizer Station Rd, Fenton, Missouri 63026.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens at 2:30 PM on Saturday, Potosi.
