Alvin Joseph Warden

April 28, 1936 — February 2, 2025

Alvin Joseph Warden, known fondly as Al, was born on April 28, 1936, in Cadet, Missouri. He passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital having reached the age of 88.

Al had a dedicated career, initially working for Gordman's Trucking in St. Louis. He later joined the Kingston K-14 School District, where he served as a custodian in the maintenance department until he retired in May 1998. His love for the kids at Kingston School was evident, and he made a positive impact on many young lives during his time there. Al was also a parishioner of St. Joachim Catholic Church of Old Mines.

Outside of work, Al enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He loved being outdoors and spending time coon and squirrel hunting, camping, and horseback riding. He was also a fan of watching "Gunsmoke" and listening to the Trading Post on J98. Al had a sweet tooth and enjoyed treats like Milky Way candy bars, cherry pie, and pumpkin pie. A quirky fact about Al was that he received a lot of junk mail, which he made sure to read.

Al was the son of the late Leo Joseph Warden and Delephine (Pratt) Warden. He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Warden; two sons, Shelby Warden and William Berry (wife, Veronica); and two grandsons, Jason Berry and Hunter Lynn Berry. He also leaves behind his sister, Sue Herrell; In-Laws Barbara Miller (husband, Leland), Hope Berry, Robbie Senter, Richard Senter, Brian Senter, and Julie Senter; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Al's memorial services will be held at DeClue Funeral Home. The visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 3:00 PM.

Al will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have cared for the arrangements of Mr. Warden.
