Alvin Gibson

Alvin Alfred Gibson of Potosi, Missouri, was born on June 15, 1935 at Glory Hill, a son of the late Alfred Gibson and the late Laura (Owens) Gibson. Alvin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 having reached the age of 86 years, 4 months and 19 days.

On July 7, 1956, Alvin was united marriage to Ruby May King and they shared nearly 44 years together. Alvin proudly served in the United States Army from July 7, 1954 to May 31, 1956 during Vietnam. Alvin was a member of the American Legion.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his four sons: Ray Gibson (wife, Chris), Allen Gibson (wife, Mary), Steven Gibson, and Kevin Gibson (wife, Stefania); ten grandchildren: Heather, Josh, Leland, Shannah (husband, Joe), Derrick, Shawnie, Alisha (husband, Tom), Damian, Aaron, and Ruby; many great grandchildren: brother, Paul Politte and Marylin; and sister, Delores Kitchell (husband, Vernon). Alvin is also leaves behind nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Gibson on February 28, 2000; nine siblings: Olen Gibson, Leon Gibson, Donald Gibson, Lilly Mae Benson, twin brother Melvin Gibson, Leroy Gibson, Ida Combs, Laurie Robinette, and Marilyn Skaggs.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 5 to 8 PM at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Sunday from 12 to 2 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 2 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Pastor Trevor Kean officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army and local VFW Post 6996.
