Alice Eye

Alice Lee Eye of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on August 10, 2008 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of 95 years, four months and fifteen days. She was born on March 26, 1913 at Huzzah, Missouri, a daughter of the late Leonard Fitzwater and Sarah (Dotson) Fitzwater.

On September 6, 1928, she was united in marriage to Ace Charles Eye at Granite City, Illinois. Mr. Eye preceded her in death on June 28, 1983. Alice was saved in November, 1929 and remained a worker for the Lord all her life. She loved her family and spending time with them. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother; a dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Joseph Eye and Robert Eye; a brother, Everett Fitzwater; a sister, Avis Blount; two granddaughters, Lydia Masson and Julie Ann Essmeyer.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her sons, Ace Eye and wife, Lisa of Potosi, Tim Eye and wife, Neidra of Potosi; three daughters, Lowayne Streckfuss of Potosi, Lois Swerik and husband, Roger of Potosi, Iona Lee (Peggy) Whitnah of Farmington; a brother, Lloyd Fitzwater of Potosi; two sisters, Mae Brickey of Berryman, Addie Gibson of Colorado; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-four great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Audie Talley, Billy Gillman, Billy Joe Sansegraw, Chad Gibson, Eddie Glass, Michael Homeier and Ryan Eye.

Interment and final prayers were held at the White Oak Grove Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
