Alice Banks

Alice Gracie Banks of Valley Park, Missouri departed this life on January 5, 2008 at her residence, having reached the age of seventy six years, three months and fifteen days. She was born on September 21, 1931 at Cadet, Missouri, a daughter of the late Cecil Joseph Ward and Rosie (Degonia) Ward.

On March 15, 1948, she married Oscar L. Banks at Clayton, Missouri and eight children were born to that marriage. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and spending time with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Henry Banks; three sisters, Delphine Farris, Lena Sue Ward, Catherine Bone; and two brothers, Donald Ward and Ace Ward.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her husband Oscar Banks of Valley Park; four daughters, Louise Thomlison and husband Dave of Gerald, Norma Witeka and husband Mark of Arnold, Debbie Stevens and husband Bruce of Bowling Green, Ruth Reece and husband Latham Jr. of Valley Park; three sons, Randall Banks and wife Judy of Ironton, Wayne Banks and wife Dee of Cedar Hill, Frank Banks of Springfield, IL; two brothers, Jim Ward and wife Geraldine of Oklahoma, Theodore Ward and wife Audrie of Irondale; two sisters Loretta Richards and husband Elmer of Cadet, Joyce Farris and husband Ben of Potosi; sixteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Britton Chapel. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Greg Reece, David Stevens, Kevin Johnson, Cory Schmidt; great-grandson Bradley Thomlison and Nephew Jimmy Farris.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
