Alfrieda Delores Richards of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on May 11, 1934 in Washington County, Missouri, a daughter of the late Marion Price and the late Ora (Cantrell) Price. Alfrieda is survived by her four grandchildren: Michelle Crader and husband George, Kendra Mosier, Wes Mosier and wife Lara, and Nikki Miller and husband Kyle; eight great grandchildren: Amanda Allen and husband Matt, Ty Broombaugh, Rheanna Broombaugh, Kaitlyn Milleret, George Edward Crader, Zoi Miller, Daniel Mosier, and Ely Miller; two sisters: Carol Cain and husband Albert and Shirley Lawson; two brothers: Harvey Price and wife Glenda, and Vincent Price and wife Judy; Alfrieda is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Alfrieda is preceded in death by her father and mother, Marion “Dutch” Price and Ora Price; husband, Fred Richards; son, Ken Mosier; two sisters: Charlotte Price and Lucille Price; four brothers: Delbert, Francis, Edward, and LeRoy Price.

Although the book ends of her life, birth and death, occurred within three miles, the impact of Alfrieda Richards extends far beyond the confines of Washington County, Missouri. A lifelong member of the New Diggins Pentecostal Tabernacle, Alfrieda loved the Lord with all her heart and shared this glowing spirituality with the world and with those she loved the most, her family, her friends, and her church. From squatter huts of the old Eagle Pitcher Mining claim, Alfrieda learned that education held the key to improvement. Alfrieda decided at an early age that teaching would be her profession, her life’s work, and her legacy. As she once stated, “I do not remember a time when I didn’t want to be a teacher.” For Alfrieda, education was more than a job, it was an obligation and a way of life. Providing students the skill of reading and a love of learning, Alfrieda touched the lives of hundreds of children in her forty years of teaching. Yet teaching for Alfrieda went beyond the confines of a classroom as she made it her personal responsibility to educate and enlighten everyone she met. As her favorite author Laura Ingalls Wilder stated, “We start learning the minute we are born. And if we’re wise, we don’t stop until the Lord calls us home.” The Lord has called Alfrieda home, but the light of knowledge she shared with the world remains.
