Agnes Gibson

June 29, 1936 — January 16, 2012

Agnes Ann Hackley-Essmyer-Gibson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on January 16, 2012 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of seventy five years, six months and eighteen days. She was born on June 29, 1936 at St. Louis, Missouri a daughter to the late Raymond Hackley and Annie (Smith) Hackley.

Agnes accepted the Lord as her Savior in the early 1940's. She was the pianist and organist for the Potosi Southern Baptist Church for many years.

On January 9, 1982, Agnes was united in marriage to Joseph Gibson and they shared thirty years together.

Agnes had her Masters degree in Library Science and was a teacher for the Kirkwood School District and Potosi School District. She retired in 1991.

In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her first husband Robert D. Essmyer; son Douglas Essmyer, step son Brian Gibson, infant sister, brother Billy Hackley and a son in law Curtis Williams.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Joseph Gibson of Potosi, Missouri; two sons Daniel K. Essmyer of Ballwin, Missouri; Dr. Dale (Belinda) Essmyer of Milan, Missouri; daughter Marcia Williams of Rock Hill, Missouri; two step sons Bruce (Lisa) Gibson of Jefferson City, Missouri; Jon A. Gibson of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren Caitlin Essmyer, Michael Essmyer, Candace Williams; two step grandchildren Heather Gibson, Hillary Gibson; special friends Jo Taylor and Sally Beineke; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Wayne Isgriggs and Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Dale Essmyer, Daniel Essmyer, Bruce Gibson, Michael Essmyer, Caitlin Essmyer and Jon Gibson.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
